The reservations person explained, when I inquired, that the canal view rooms were a tiny bit smaller than the non-canal-view standard rooms, which were running at E189/night.

they said our rooms werent ready fair enough it was early, but offered us cnal view rooms fo a extra 30 euros a night, we declined and waited for our room which was ready about 10am, it was infact the same room.
